Les HEC commerciaux ont g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement un DS compris entre 1,5 et 2,5. Les cha\u00eenes mol\u00e9culaires s'\u00e9tendent et s'enchev\u00eatrent dans l'eau par hydratation, ce qui augmente consid\u00e9rablement la r\u00e9sistance au frottement interne \u00e0 l'\u00e9coulement des fluides, permettant ainsi un \u00e9paississement efficace.<\/p><p><strong><b>Contr\u00f4le de la rh\u00e9ologie (pseudo-plasticit\u00e9) :<\/b><\/strong>\u00a0Au repos, le r\u00e9seau de liaisons hydrog\u00e8ne est intact et le syst\u00e8me pr\u00e9sente une viscosit\u00e9 \u00e9lev\u00e9e, ce qui permet de suspendre les pigments et de r\u00e9sister \u00e0 l'affaissement. Sous l'effet du cisaillement (par exemple, brossage, roulage), le r\u00e9seau de liaisons hydrog\u00e8ne est perturb\u00e9 de mani\u00e8re r\u00e9versible, les cha\u00eenes mol\u00e9culaires s'alignent dans le sens du cisaillement et la viscosit\u00e9 diminue instantan\u00e9ment, ce qui rend l'application sans effort et le film lisse.
